Martyr Said Hamad Sofi Faqiany, known as (Said Hamad Khoshnaw), was born in 1939 in the village of Faqiany in the Akoyan valley, Rawanduz district, Erbil province. He was illiterate. He was married and had five sons and four daughters.
In 1965, he joined the Peshmerga forces of the Aylul Revolution and became a Peshmerga in the 3rd Battalion of the Balak Force under the command of Mullah Amin, along with Muhammad Ziad Faqiany. He participated in most of the battles in the Rawanduz region, including the battles of Mount Korak, Darahishk, Kel Kel, and other battles in the Akoyan valley against the Ba'ath regime.
On April 7, 1974, on the side of Mount Korak in the Darahishk cave, within the borders of the village of Faqiany, Rawanduz district, he was martyred by the shelling of the Iraq army. He was buried in the Garda Gardi cemetery in the Rawanduz district.
